Entry: Talks Wednesday, September 20, 2006

The Bar Council of Malaysia will be presenting a seminar on Religion, Politics and Culture in a Malay State. The central issue is does Islam actually forbid traditional and cultural arts? Can a political party ban a traditional culture that had been deeply embedded together with our race? Why are some cultures, which are inherent and deeply rooted in the Kelantanese Malays, deemed Unislamic? For centuries, ancient traditions co existed with Islam with no repercussions. Now, they want us to emulate the Arab culture and dress that way.

I think this will open the eyes of all who choose to think about our society and where it is going. Come and listen to this thought provoking lecture on the demise of Malay culture where some of these issues raised here will be addressed.  This 22.9.2006 at 5 pm at the Bar Council Auditorium. Free nasi lemak distributed while we discuss the serious issues.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries regarding the above.
